Kalinka is a versatile gypsy ensemble that performs live in the concert hall, during wedding ceremonies or at private parties.
The repertoire depends on the occasion, gypsy music always being the base.
- For a private party a mixed repertoire is usually the best choice.
In addition to gypsy music, many other genres can be played. Repertoire that can be summarized under the heading "well-known melodies”, e.g. Viennese music, film music, musical, operettas, light classical, French chanson, French musette, evergreens, some Jewish music.
-
In a wedding ceremony the splendour of classical violin music is combined with lighter genres, like for example an instrumental version of "La vie en rose”.
At the end of the ceremony merry gypsy music sets the right tone.
Participation of a classical singer is also possible.
- At a concert Gipsy Ensemble Kalinka focuses on gypsy music from Eastern Europe: Russia, Hungary, Romania, the Balkans.
The musicians of Kalinka are mainly gypsies from Hungary and Romania. At concerts they play their own music in the virtuoso manner for which gypsy musicians are so well known all over the world.
The collaboration of the fiery Bulgarian gypsy singer and violinist Emilia Kirova gives an extra dimension to the concert.
Acoustic music
|
Gipsy Ensemble Kalinka distinguish themselves from other bands by an acoustic principle: normally they play without amplification.
The warm atmosphere of purely acoustic music is not comparable to electronically amplified music (whether produced by a DJ, one musician or an orchestra). An additional advantage at private parties is that no one complains about the loud music!
On big concerts or festivals of course amplification is necessary, but the use of professional equipment guarantees a natural reproduction of the original acoustic sound. |
